The Minister of Transport Alexander Dobrindt has brought in January 2017 the new "Verordnung zur Regelung des Betriebs von unbemannten Fluggeräten " (regulation governing the operation of unmanned aircraft) on the way and presented to the Federal Cabinet.

The main points include:

Labelling: All systems from a takeoff weight of more than 0.25 kg must be in the future.

Proof of knowledge: For the operation of a UAV from 2 kg - kilograms a proof of knowledge is required in the future.

Permit freedom: Basically no permit is required for the operation of UAV under a mass of 5 kg.

We welcome this decision, they facilitate the use of new UAV technology for applications in the geo-information and other commercial applications.

A great thing is to be able to drive a company car for many employees. However the treasury considered this cash benefit which must be taxed. For this, two procedures are approved: logbook or the 1-percent method. Many opt for the less expensive lump-sum taxation monthly a percent of gross lists price. It is comfortable, can be but also really expensive.

A change to the log book is especially recommended when these two points come together:

  • the company car has a comparatively high new price
  • It is used only little for private trips.

Is this the case, the annual savings can be significant. So the savings is one

  • Small cars up to EUR 900 p.a.,
  • Medium-sized cars of up to 2,000 EUR per annum and
  • Upper class cars of up to 4,500 EUR p.a.

The system GEObox smart meets the legal requirements for a proper logbook. The principle is simple and effective: A GEObox placed in the car, which reliably records each drive with start and end point, date, time, and number of kilometers. The collected data are forwarded to a data center and are accessible via a browser over the Internet. The purpose of the trip, as well as customer name is added promptly. So it is easily possible to make a complete logbook. Easy and cheap at the price from 12,95 EUR net per month per vehicle.

Ariane Start

An Ariane 5 rocket has launched four additional Galileo satellites, accelerating deployment of the new satellite navigation system.

The Ariane 5, operated by Arianespace, lifted off from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, at 13:06 GMT (14:06 CET, 10:06 local time) carrying Galileo satellites 15-18. The first pair was released 3 hours, 25 minutes after liftoff, while the second separated 20 minutes later.

Over the next few days, engineers will nudge the satellites into their final working orbits and begin tests to ensure they are ready to join the constellation. This is expected to take six months or so.

This mission brings the Galileo system to 18 satellites.

Already, our receivers from GEOmeter up to the GEObox have the possibility to process the Galileo signals.

The satellites already in orbit will allow the European Commission to declare the start of initial services, expected towards year’s end. Two additional Ariane 5 launches are scheduled in 2017 and 2018. The full system of 24 satellites plus spares is expected to be in place by 2020.

innovative through research

The Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft pays tribute to the GEOsat for their long lasting and successful research activity with the label "innovative through research".
Since founding the GEOsat GmbH in 1985 we engage in numerous research projects with the focus on GNSS, telematics, sensor technology and geographic information. Our versatile potential of innovation is the basis for the development of new products and services, always close to the project and to the customers.
Stifterverband is a joint initiative started in 1920 by companies and foundations – the only one in Germany to be devoted entirely to consulting, networking and promoting improvements in the fields of education, science and innovation.
